Purinergic mechanisms in neuroinflammation: An update from molecules to behavior.

The principle functions of neuroinflammation are to limit tissue damage and promote tissue repair in response to pathogens or injury. While neuroinflammation has utility, pathophysiological inflammatory responses, to some extent, underlie almost all neuropathology. Understanding the mechanisms that control the three stages of inflammation (initiation, propagation and resolution) is therefore of...

From systems biology to dynamical neuropharmacology: proposal for a new methodology.

The concepts and methods of systems biology are extended to neuropharmacology in order to test and design drugs for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Computational modelling by integrating compartmental neural modelling techniques and detailed kinetic descriptions of pharmacological modulation of transmitter-receptor interaction is offered as a method to test the electrop...

Nucleotides in neuroregeneration and neuroprotection

Brain injury generates the release of a multitude of factors including extracellular nucleotides, which exhibit bi-functional properties and contribute to both detrimental actions in the acute phase and also protective and reparative actions in the later recovery phase to allow neuroregeneration. A promising strategy toward restoration of neuronal function is based on activation of endogenous a...

Gait Generation for a Bipedal System By Morris-Lecar Central Pattern Generator

The ability to move in complex environments is one of the most important features of humans and animals. In this work, we exploit a bio-inspired method to generate different gaits in a bipedal locomotion system. We use the 4-cell CPG model developed by Pinto [21]. This model has been established on symmetric coupling between the cells which are responsible for generating oscillatory signals. Th...

Static Security Constrained Generation Scheduling Using Sensitivity Characteristics of Neural Network

This paper proposes a novel approach for generation scheduling using sensitivitycharacteristic of a Security Analyzer Neural Network (SANN) for improving static securityof power system. In this paper, the potential overloading at the post contingency steadystateassociated with each line outage is proposed as a security index which is used forevaluation and enhancement of system static security....
